Equipment for Class

  • Two Blue-9 Propel Air Platforms, or similar inflatable balance equipment

  • KLIMB or other sturdy platform 12” or shorter

  • Traction Mat or Yoga Mat

  • Non-slip surface for training

  • Treats your dog loves!

Dog and Handler Requirements

You and your dog should have completed FIT DOG Level 1 AND 2 prior to working on Level 3 exercises. Level 3 builds off of skills from 1 and 2.

Dogs who attend must be in good health with no current injuries or prior injures that may inflict discomfort or pain. If your dog has a prior injury, please consult your vet first before joining FIT DOG Class.

This class is taught using positive reinforcement training. Dogs should not be forced to perform any fitness behavior for class or evaluations.

  • During Level 3 FIT DOG class you will learn the following skills

    • Bow to Stand

    • Spin on Balance Equipment

    • Pivot to Side Stepping

    • Tuck Sit to Kick Back Stand on Balance Equipment

    • Elevated Nose Touch

    • Side Stepping

    • Rear Limb Stretch

    • Ipsilateral Target'

    • Down Stand Down on Balance Equipment

  • This class earns you points towards your AKC FIT DOG Title but there are other categories required to qualify such as a group walk, independent walk, swimming, or other activity. Your FIT DOG instructor can direct you to an activity that can help you earn you points!

    NOTE: AKC Fees are separate from this class. I am happy to help answer any questions about this and help direct to help you and your dog achieve this goal!
