Bow to Stand
While on balance equipment, your dog performs a bow behavior to strengthen their core and build limb awareness!

Spin on Balance Equipment
Increase the spin skill by asking your dog to perform this skill on balance equipment!

Pivot to Sidestepping
Using ‘behavior momentum’, we will use the Level 1 and 2 skill of Pivoting to teach a Side Stepping behavior!

Week 3

Tuck Sit to Kick Back Stand on Balance Equipment
Now that your dog has learned to target both their front and rear limbs onto balance equipment, we are going to combine those skills with Tuck Sit and Kick Back Stand!

Elevated Nose Touch
We will ask our dog to perform a nose touch to engage their core, lift their trunk, similar to a pop up and back to a square sit.

Ipsilateral Target
With this skill, we are looking for your dog to target their same side legs to equipment at an angle.

Down Stand Down on Balance Equipment
With this Level 3 skill we want your dog targeting their forelimbs to one piece of balance equipment and rear limbs to another while performing Down Stand Down.

Equipment for Class
Two Blue-9 Propel Air Platforms, or similar inflatable balance equipment
KLIMB or other sturdy platform 12” or shorter
Traction Mat or Yoga Mat
Non-slip surface for training
Treats your dog loves!
Dog and Handler Requirements
You and your dog should have completed FIT DOG Level 1 AND 2 prior to working on Level 3 exercises. Level 3 builds off of skills from 1 and 2.
Dogs who attend must be in good health with no current injuries or prior injures that may inflict discomfort or pain. If your dog has a prior injury, please consult your vet first before joining FIT DOG Class.
This class is taught using positive reinforcement training. Dogs should not be forced to perform any fitness behavior for class or evaluations.

How to Troubleshoot

This class earns you points towards your AKC FIT DOG Title but there are other categories required to qualify such as a group walk, independent walk, swimming, or other activity. Your FIT DOG instructor can direct you to an activity that can help you earn you points!
NOTE: AKC Fees are separate from this class. I am happy to help answer any questions about this and help direct to help you and your dog achieve this goal!
