Join Canine Good Citizen Class!

  • Teach your dog important behaviors Including… how to calmly greet people, coming when called, accepting grooming and handling from a stranger (such as a vet), sit, stay, and down on cue, and so much more!

  • Prepare for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test In this class you will be coached on how to train your dog the 10 test items for the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen test and have space and time to practice in an environment with distractions. The last week you will get the opportunity to take the test and earn your certificate, title, and ribbon!

  • No Prior Experience Needed No training experience or prerequisites are required to join this class. Wherever you are in your journey- I am here to help!

The class is held once a week for 6 weeks for an hour at a time.
Full class price is $150
Rabies and DHPP vaccine required for attending dogs.

What is taught?

  • Calm Greetings - your dog calmly greets people without jumping or barking

  • Handling Skills - your dog accepts a stranger grooming and handling for things like a vet exam

  • Leash Walking - your dog can walk on a leash without pulling

  • Come When Called - when called, your promptly returns to you

  • Sit, Down, and Stay - When cued, your dog will do these behaviors without the aid of treats (treats are used at the start when teaching these skills)

  • Calm Behavior around Distractions - Your dog can remain calm (no pulling, lunging, barking, whining) with the presence of another dog and person.

 FAQs

  • I accept both cash and cards. The best way to save your spot is to either sign up online and pay via card, or call or text to let me know that you will be paying in cash on first class date.

  • I do offer payment plans if you cannot pay the cost in full. If you need to arrange a payment plan, please contact me.

  • Absolutely! Please contact me directly to set up a CGC test date. Personal tests are $30 and include all the paperwork you need for your certification.

  • There is no age limit! All dogs can learn new skills.
    It is recommended if your dog is under 16 weeks to join Puppy Classes first to get some socialization and other puppy-focused skills!

  • Each dog must have one dedicated handler. If you and a family member or friend want to attend with multiple dogs you are more than welcome to! The enrollment price is for one dog. Each dog will need their spot reserved.

  • Absolutely! Please notify me in advanced so we can modify the training to fit your dog’s needs.

  • Sorry but female dogs in heat cannot attend group class. If your dog happens to go into heat in the middle of a class we can discuss options for future training.

  • Because reactivity has such a wide range from simple frustration to aggression, I cannot give a straight yes or no answer on this. It is best to get in contact with me via call or text to discuss steps that may involve a private evaluation before attending group classes. Each dog is treated as an individual in these cases and some may be perfect candidates for classes while others may not.
